Mary Trump, the niece of the former president, was the keynote speaker at the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club’s sold-out gala at the Hard Rock Cafe on Friday.

Other awardees included director/screenwriter/producer Lee Daniels, who brought “Monster’s Ball” and “Precious,” to the big screen, as well as Kathy Najimy of “Sister Act” and “Hocus Pocus” fame, and Sara Nelson, the international president of the Association of Flight Attendants.

The Master of Ceremonies was Jim Owles president, Allen Roskoff, known for his humor and for co-authoring the nation’s first gay rights bill.
