NEW YORK- The Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club (JOLDC), New York’s citywide progressive LGBTQ+ Democratic Club and ranked as City and State’s top LGBTQ+ club, is proud to announce the following endorsements for the 2025 Democratic primary election cycle as voted by our organization.
Jim Owles, President Allen Roskoff, remarked, "For years, New Yorkers have witnessed a pattern of corruption and neglect from City Hall leadership that has failed to protect our most vulnerable and has instead fostered a culture of impunity. The recent $622,056 fine levied against Andrew Cuomo is a stark reminder that the current administration is not a break from the past, but a continuation of the same old politics that have eroded public trust and failed to deliver justice. Now, more than ever, we need strong replacements -leaders who will not just patch up the cracks, but build a new foundation of integrity and equity that can withstand the corrosive influence of the current administration and restore faith in our city’s future.
We cannot ignore the recent, deeply troubling developments: the administration’s complicity in inhumane immigration policies that have resulted in families being ripped apart, with citizens sent to concentration camps in Venezuela and talks of similar sites in Libya. These are not isolated infractions, they are part of a broader pattern of cruelty and disregard for basic human rights that must be called out and condemned. Mayor Eric Adams is complicit in his humanizing and appeasing of Donald Trump and cooperating with Trump's implementation of these cruel and horrific actions.
At the same time, we are witnessing an unprecedented assault on the rights and protections of LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers. The silence from City Hall is deafening; it is a silence that signals complicity and emboldens those who would strip away our hard-won freedoms. Every day, our communities see their rights eroded in real time, and we refuse to accept a future where our dignity is negotiable.
The Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club stands with candidates who are committed to breaking this cycle. Leaders who will resist the autocracy emanating from the White House and City Hall alike, and who will fight for a city that is just, inclusive, and unyielding in its defense of all New Yorkers. We urge every voter to join us in supporting principled fighters who will build a foundation strong enough to withstand the failures of the past and the threats of the present."
Our endorsements follow a thorough screening and questionnaire process to ensure candidate alignment with our values. All candidate questionnaires may be viewed here.
