Councilwoman Tish James Endorsed by the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club

June 19, 2013 (New York, NY) – Today, the Public Advocate campaign of Councilwoman Letitia “Tish” James announced the endorsement of the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club. James was endorsed on the strength of her record of fighting for social and economic justice, including LGBT rights.

“The Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club is thrilled to support Councilmember Tish James in her bid for Public Advocate,” said club President Allen Roskoff. “She has stood with us in fighting for equality and economic justice and has a record of being a strong advocate for the LGBT community. We are confident that she will continue to fight against the injustices that face our community as well as all New Yorkers.”

About Tish James: A Brooklyn native, Tish James has been a long-time public servant. Prior to being elected City Councilwoman in 2003, James was a top-level aide to members of the State Assembly, where she played a crucial role in bringing resources to some of New York’s most vulnerable communities. She has also served as a public defender in the Legal Aid Society and an Assistant Attorney General for New York State (Brooklyn Region). In the City Council, James has been an outspoken advocate for economic and social justice.
