Jake Goodman is an educator and activist. He is a founding member of Queer Rising, a grassroots organization that demands full equality for all queer people through nonviolent direct action. With Queer Rising, Jake has helped organize civil disobedience actions, rallies and marches, advocating for marriage equality, repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," shelter for homeless queer youth, safe schools and an end to anti-LGBTQ religious rhetoric. He has been twice arrested during this advocacy work.
Jake also serves on the Board of Guiding Proud, NYC's first LGBTQ youth mentoring program. His writings can be found on The Sh'ma Blog, The Huffington Post, USA Today, The Daily Kos, Pam's House Blend, the LABA Journal and Alef: The NEXT Generation.
As a Jewish educator, Jake has taught, spoken and served as scholar-in-residence at seminaries, synagogues, JCC's, camps and retreats across the United States and in Israel. He is the LABA Kids Director at the 14th Street Y and a company member of Storahtelling.
